I have studied American history because I love it, and I know that we are subject to periods of intense (whatever)-phobia and isolationism and that those periods give rise to dangerous demagogues. I am sad to be living in one of those times and somewhat frightened that if a movement such as Trump's sweeps up the majority, there will be nothing I can do to stop it.
Despite her self-inflicted wounds (and don't those just make me crazy!), I believe she is the right person to succeed President Obama. Mr. Obama was prevented, both by his own self-inflicted wounds but also (and far, far more so) by those who never gave him a chance, from being the president he could have been. Perhaps Ms. Clinton can advance the ball a couple of dozen yards on programs that are critical for our country.
